Mosquito is present everywhere and is annoying. Sometimes, bite of mosquito can cause serious disease like malaria and Dengue Fever.
Mosquitoes are highly active at dawn or dusk and taking preventive steps to stay indoors can prevent you from infection. Again no precautionary methods are foolproof to protect you from mosquito bite.
There may not be any special symptom at all when a mosquito bites you. There may be swelling and small itching on the affected area. The area may become red and slightly pink with pale bumps formation. In very rare cases, severe allergic reaction can occur resulting in swelling of throat and wheezing. A condition called anaphylaxis requires emergency medical care and respiratory support.
Mosquito can cause fever, Headache, nausea, body ache, muscle weakness, rash and swollen glands.
Not all the mosquito bites are harmful. The female Anopheles mosquito bite can cause many diseases like malaria.
Treatment is not required for mosquito bite. The mosquito will peel off your skin causing Cellulitis or bacterial infection. Applying topical cream will give some relief. In case of strong reaction, you can take Benadryl and other allergic antihistamines like chloropheniramine maleate.
