Trichomoniasis
There are several types of sexually transmitted diseases and one of them is Trichomoniasis which is caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. It is very common among women who are sexually active.
Men also get trichomoniasis infection rarely and the symptoms for men irritation in the penis, whitish discharge, burning sensation while passing urine.
In women the infection is asymptomatic (without any symptoms). However some women will have symptoms like vaginal discharge that is green in color, low back pain, discomfort while having sex and vaginal itching.
Treatment of trichomoniasis infection is very simple. It can be cured completely by taking oral antibiotics called Flagyl.
But pregnant women should not take this drug. There is every chance for the infected women to spread this disease to her partner and hence checking the partner is necessary. The infected women should abstain from sex until she gets cured completely and it is necessary to take the course of antibiotics even you don’t have any symptoms.
Trichomoniasis infection can be prevented by practicing safe sex. Using condoms and avoiding sex with multiple partners can prevent you from this infection.
