Staph infection is the short form of infection caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. It infects the person very often in nose and mouth and sometimes in the genitals and anus area. The infection starts from a small cut or wound in the foot and bacteria enters the body easily.
There are several types of Staph infection ranging from simple boil or blisters to serious infection. The symptoms vary according to the strength of infection and how fast the bacteria spread and affect other parts. Sometimes, staph infection commonly turns into antibiotic resistant infection due to overuse of antibiotics.
The common symptoms are softness on the affected area and swelling. It may be characterized by the redness or change in color of the skin on the affected part and formation of ulcer like blisters with pain. For some persons, it may trigger fever and chills depending on the health condition.
Antibiotics are used commonly for treating staph infection. But sometimes, the infection gets resistant to antibiotics and hence strong and powerful medicines are to be used. In case the infection affects the muscles and tissues rapidly, then it has to be removed surgically. Very often, the infection is treated by topical ointments and potent antibiotics.
