A mole is small growth on the body and is usually present from birth. There are many people who have more than 100 moles in their body at different parts. Mole Skin Cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, affecting more than a million people each year. It attacks you regardless of your sex, age and race.


Moles are of 3 types. 9 out of 10 persons with skin cancer have basal cell carcinoma. It looks very much like moles and takes sufficient time to grow. Squamous cell cancer will grow on existing moles and very often it affects the person who is exposed to sun. Melanoma type of skin cancer mole is the deadliest of all the three types and sometimes it may prove fatal.










Children have less probability of getting skin cancer unless they are taking treatment like chemotherapy for some other cancer. Skin cancer affects adults and aged people and the development of skin cancer is a process, taking months together and sometimes even years.


You should identify the presence of skin cancer and monitor the changes in skin regularly giving importance to the ABCD of testing methods.


Biopsy of the affected area is done for confirming the presence of cancerous cells. Surgery may be done depending on the intensity of the disease and how far it has spread. In case of squamous cell cancer, cryotherapy can be done for freezing the mole. For melanoma, first biopsy is done, followed by surgery and in future follow-up is done by treating the patients with chemotherapy.


You cannot prevent skin cancer mole if it is inherited. But avoid exposing the body in hot sun, wear protective glasses and proper clothing while going out.
