Basically there are 3 types of skin cancer namely basal cell carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma and malignant Melanoma.
Among the 3 types, melanoma is the Skin Cancer Type which is most dangerous since it may result in death. The other two types of skin cancers are 100% curable.
Basal cell carcinoma occurs on face and neck. It can be treated easily and cured completely with surgery or radiation. Squamous cell type of cancer is less common and they occur in lips, ears and neck. Melanoma occurs very less when compared with other two types and it can cause death if not detected at early stages.
Basal cell carcinoma symptoms are flesh colored patches, tiny spots and blood vessels on the neck or face. Sometimes it may bleed and cause ulcers with pain. This type of skin cancer can be completely cured and the treatment is simple. It may cause ulcer if not detected at early stages causing rodent ulcer. It is the most common skin cancer type attacking neck, face, arms and hands. It grows very slowly and they do not attack other body parts.
Squamuos cell carcinoma symptoms are red, scaly, crusted patches which look like lesions or bumps. It grows fast on the skin unlike the earlier type.
Malignant Melanoma occurs very less and is often asymmetrical in shape with irregular border, showing variation in color and assumes big size. About 4% of the people with skin cancer are affected with melanoma which spreads rapidly attacking lymph nodes and internal organs like bones and brain. The rate of curing is around 95% if detected early.
