How to Get Rid of Puffy Eyes

Puffiness around the eyes can be caused by several things, including lack of sleep, Stress and allergies. You need to be gentle when you try to remove the puffiness as the skin around the eye is very thin. To get rid of puffiness, you can try the following ways.


Take Use of Water
Hydration
Water Retention is less likely when the body is hydrated. Staying hydrated is the easiest way to prevent puffiness around the eyes. Reducing salt intake, sodas, sugary drinks, and coffee can also help keep the body hydrated.





Hot Salt Water
Add half of a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water and stir it completely. Soak cotton balls or eye pads in the warm water and let them lay over your eyes for a few minutes. Repeat for half an hour to see reduced puffiness.





Cold Water
If your eyes are puffy from lack of sleep, then what you need is cold water. Cold water constricts the blood vessels and reduces swelling. Splash water on your face several times a day to reduce inflammation. You could also use a small bag of ice, wrapped in a cloth, on the eyes as needed.

Cucumber
Cucumbers have astringent properties and enzymes that help reduce swelling around the eyes. Cut a cucumber into thick sLices and chill them in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes. Place the cucumbers right onto closed eyes and leave on until the cucumber becomes warm or for 10 minutes. Doing this several times a day will reduce puffiness, brighten your complexion and help get rid of wrinkles.





Potato
The starch in potatoes will help reduce puffiness because it has anti-inflammatory properties. Peel, wash and dry the potato. The potato needs to be grated and put into a clean cloth. Tie the corners of the cloth and put this over the eyelids for a few minutes. This process can also relieve Headaches and can be used several times a day.





Strawberry
Strawberries have an alpha-hydroxy that helps skin look young and smooth. Put the strawberries in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Remove the tops and slice the berries into thick slices. Place the slices over your eyes for several minutes to see great improvements.





Aloe Vera
When using aloe vera, you must be very careful when applying it as it must not get into the eyes. Aloe vera has vitamin E and antioxidant to lessen swelling around the eyes. It improves the circulation of the blood and helps to get rid of fluids around the eyes. Instead of pure aloe vera extracts, you may use one of the many products available that contain aloe vera extracts.





Egg Whites
To reduce puffiness and tighten the skin around your eyes, try egg whites. Separate the yolks from the egg whites. Whip the whites in a bowl until they are stiff. Add a little witch hazel, then using a soft cloth or brush, put this mixture under your eyes and let it dry. This will make the skin look less puffy and will help tighten the area.





Tea bags
Tea bags contain anti-irritant properties and can help reduce the puffiness around the eyes. They can also relieve the redness and irritation that can occur with puffiness. Soak the tea bags, either green or black tea, in hot water, then let the bag cool to room temperature. Lie on your back and put the tea bags on your eyes. The swelling will reduce after a little time.





Try Traditional Ways
Cold Spoon
Put 5 or 6 metal spoons in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes. Using one spoon at a time, place the rounded part against your eye until it becomes warm. Replace the warm spoon with a cold one. This will relax the blood vessels and relieve tired eyes. It will also tighten the skin around your eyes. If you do not want to use spoons, a bag of frozen peas will work, too.





Eye Cream
An eye cream that contains a mint herbal base or rosemary will help reduce the puffiness around your eyes. Use a small amount each day.





Massage
Using your middle finger, perform a mini-massage around the eye. Sweep your finger inward through the ocular. Remember the skin is thin so do not use much pressure.
