Nausea can be defined as an unpleasant sensation in your stomach that pushes you to vomit. But in most of the cases you do not end up vomiting. Many factors can trigger nauseated feeling including stomach upset, indigestion, food Poisoning, infection and motion sickness. Pregnancy can cause strong nausea in many women and is more likely in the first trimester.


1. Ginger


Ginger is a natural herb to prevent nausea and vomiting. It is used liberally to treat many digestive issues like burping, bloating and indigestion. There are many home remedies to overcome nausea and ginger stands first in the list. Ginger acts as an all-time cure for many digestion related problems including gas, bloating and stomach upset. Ginger can be taken in any form like dry powder, ginger juice, ginger bar and chews. Having a cup of fresh ginger tea can give you quick relief from indigestion symptoms. Freshly prepared ginger juice can help in overcoming gas and feeling of fullness. Excess of gas, belching and burping can be reduced significantly by eating ginger.










2. BRAT


BRAT is the short term used for Bananas, Rice, Apple-sauce and Toast. This is an ideal diet given for stomach upset. Children with indigestion problems are given BRAT diet to induce Diarrhea or vomiting. Since this diet contains high binding foods it is recommended for people with upset stomach. Each of the ingredients of this diet is good for indigestion problem.


3. Mint Leaves


Nausea can be managed by handful of mint leaves. Menthol is an active ingredient present in these leaves which acts as analgesic and pain reliever for upset stomach. You will feel better by drinking a cup of peppermint tea or even by just sniffing its extract. If you wish, you can wash the leaves thoroughly and chew it slowly to get immediate relief from vomit and nausea symptoms. 4. Apple Cider Vinegar


Mix 1 or 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water and drink it slowly. This can effectively neutralize the extra acidity that causes problem in your stomach. This promotes the buildup of healthy (good) bacteria in large numbers which in turn outgrows bad bacteria quickly providing relief from upset stomach and nausea.


5. Milk Toast


Drinking milk (cool or hot) can do more harm than good for upset stomach and nausea. But you can always use milk and bread in this place. All you have to do is to heat a cup of milk and add a bread toast to it with little of unsalted butter. Now eat this slowly. Bread can easily absorb acidity of the stomach giving prompt relief from nausea.


6. Lemon


Lemon can be used in any manner to get instant relief from upset stomach. Even smelling fresh lemon is enough to calm your upset stomach. Alternatively you can add few drops of lemon juice to black tea and sip it slowly. Pregnant women can get complete relief from nausea with the help of lemon. Cut lemon into two or four pieces and wrap them in a plastic bag and store in it the freezer. Whenever you feel nauseated you can grab one piece instantly and simply suck the fruit. Fresh lemon is good enough to produce excess of saliva to keep your stomach cool.


7. Hot Bags


Hot water bottle or heating pad can provide comfort for nauseated feeling. Hot bags can provide enough warmth to your stomach and good for diverting you from stomach pain and vomit like feeling.

8. Get Fresh


Go for a walk in your backyard to get some fresh air which can make you calm and ease off the discomfort feeling of nausea. Most of the times it is the brain that triggers nausea and vomiting. You need to be tricky to divert your thought/brain and indulge in interesting hobbies like watching your favorite soaps or reading a book etc.


9. Divert Your Mind


Practice yoga and meditation and learn breathing techniques. This can help in preventing nausea. When you are not feeling don’t panic or develop Anxiety. It is all right to vomit and there is nothing bad about it. Don’t get anxious over it which can worsen the symptoms. Just try focusing your mind on anything else and start breathing slowly. Inhale deeply though your nose and exhale slowly by widely opening your mouth.


10. Watch What You Eat


Some people indulge in vomiting after eating particular food or drink. In that case they are allergic to specific food. Nausea and vomiting can occur due to food Allergy.

If you are feeling nauseated frequently without apparent reason it can be due to internal problems in the gut. Check with your doctor to rule out Crohn’s disease, ulcer, GERD or any other chronic issue.
